Everything in this category turns on one number, and it is the number filament calculators are least careful with. Mass is volume times density; volume is a cylinder you can measure with callipers; the arithmetic from there is exact. Density is not. It belongs to the pellets one company bought, not to "PLA" in the abstract, and the published figures say so: four datasheets put PLA at 1.24 g/cm³ and agree to the digit, while ABS runs from 1.04 at BCN3D through 1.05 at MG Chemicals to 1.1 at UltiMaker, and nylon from 1.14 at UltiMaker to 1.25 at Plexiwire. A tenth of your filament budget rides on which sheet somebody once copied. So these tools carry the published figures with the manufacturer's name attached to each, name the ones that disagree instead of averaging them away, and let you type the number off your own spool over the top of all of it.

How these tools are built
Every tool in this category runs entirely in your browser: there is no upload, no account and no request to a server once the page has loaded. The numbers behind them are transcribed from the organisation that defines them — NIST for units, the W3C for web formats, the WHO for health measures — and each page names its source next to the formula. A tool whose reference values stop reproducing fails the build and does not ship, which is the whole reason the catalogue grows slowly.
