There is no international bureau of grades. Every number in this category was decided by somebody — a registrar, a course syllabus, a ministry — and the deciders disagree, so the only useful thing a tool can do is say whose rule it is applying. The arithmetic itself is the easy half: an average weighted by credit hours, the same average rearranged to ask what a final exam has to carry, a percentage compared against a threshold table. What varies is everything the arithmetic stands on. An A+ is worth 4.33 grade points at Columbia's School of Professional Studies and exactly 4.00 at the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing; Portland State does not award an A+ at all. An A+ starts at 97 percent in the Hopkins table and at 98 in Columbia's, and where Hopkins has a D+ and a D− Columbia has one flat D covering ten points. So each tool here names the institution behind its default numbers, and where there is a table you can type your own over it, rather than presenting one school's policy as the way grading works. The Polish admission calculator is the exception that proves the point: its numbers are not a convention but a regulation, printed in the Dziennik Ustaw, identical for every school in the country — and it is the only tool here that can honestly claim that. What this category deliberately does not contain is a conversion from a Polish grade average to an American GPA, because no institution publishes one.

How these tools are built
Every tool in this category runs entirely in your browser: there is no upload, no account and no request to a server once the page has loaded. The numbers behind them are transcribed from the organisation that defines them — NIST for units, the W3C for web formats, the WHO for health measures — and each page names its source next to the formula. A tool whose reference values stop reproducing fails the build and does not ship, which is the whole reason the catalogue grows slowly.
